LCD Market News

Reports are showing that Taiwans electronic production industry is setting itself up for a huge rebound in 2011 and 2012. This rebound is forecasted on the back of extremely strong demand for notebook, tablet, PC and LCD TV products. It is thought that the Taiwanese companies are stocking up their inventory ahead of the Chinese holiday in May.

Market forecasts are showing an expected 30% predicted rise in sales for March. This comes after a subdued February which saw major producers of electronics reduce their shipments of parts. It is thought that whilst a huge rise in sales is expected in March the market shrunk by 15% in February.

The upshift in sales comes on the back of the introduction of some new products to the market. The strong demand for the Apple Ipod 2 will start the upsurge in orders. Further introduction of products from HTC, Motorola and Acer will also push up the sales in March. There has been a real interest in tablet products so in expectation of this demand the production lines are stepping up ahead of orders.

The tablet market will begin to really step up in 2011 with further new entrants pushing for market share. Whilst Apple has introduced this product their units are in the high end of the price bracket which will leave a gap at the lower end for some other manufacturers to try and grab a piece of the action.

The upsurge in Tablet demand is also being followed by a huge demand for LCD TV products. Companies are thought to be increasing their orders for the LCD TV panel units ahead of further sales through 2011. We reported yesterday that Sharp were reporting sales ahead of targets and it seems this demand is filtering through the whole market.

The manufacturers have also been working hard and major manufacturers Samsung , LG and Sony have managed to significantly reduce production costs. This news is excellent for the market as this gives manufacturers scope to reduce and move their prices to push further demand for new LCD TV units.
